Blueberry BBQ Sauce

Blueberry BBQ Sauce


  • 2 cups organic blueberries
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup onion, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh jalapeño, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 3 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Tabasco
  • Salt & freshly ground pepper

Heat oil in saucepan. Add onion and jalapeño, cook over moderate heat, stirring until wilted (about 3 mins). Add ketchup, vinegar, sugar, mustard and Tabasco. Bring to a simmer. Add blueberries and simmer over low heat, stirring until thickened (about 10 mins)

Puree sauce in a blender or food processor until smooth. Strain and season with salt and pepper. Serve at room temperature on steak, pork, lamb, burgers or whatever else strikes your fancy.
