transhumance festival

”a celebration of grassland culture, resiliency and the dedication to good food”

Grazing animals play an integral part in helping us manage the health of our oak savannas, grasslands and coastal prairies.  We want to celebrate the work with a day dedicated to local artisans, education and food-shed based delicacies.

The Transhumance Festival in partnership with the Grazer's Collective hopes to renew curiosity in our community and help develop shared values to discover simpler ways to connect with our landscape and food system.

Join us on May 11th 2019 for what will be a sassy and grassy good time!

”organic, seasonal, and local gastronomy served with a side of community ”

One of the best-kept food secrets is the Sagra. A festival organized to celebrate local food and drink.  A sagra is a place where you’ll eat well and start to get to know your region.   Most Sagre have local producers, foragers, and hunters sharing and demonstrating special menus and unique ingredients.

The Sagra has it's roots in old country fairs or festivals celebrating the harvest and have been running for decades, even centuries in Italy.  While some have soared beyond local status to that of cultured international festivals, hundreds remain small events where you’ll dine and drink elbow-to-elbow with locals and get to meet your community.

Please contact us for collaboration! Here we share our passion, here we grow our roots.

evidence suggests that art in some form has been employed since the dawn of modern humans. It lifts us to a heightened level of communication that transcends the literal and mundane.”

Our civilized technological advancement has netted tremendous gains for humanity but one could argue that the further we advance the more we sever our connection to the critical elements that sustain us. Perhaps a next step is to apply some of that technology to regenerating and stewarding an ecosystem that can support future generations not to mention countless other species. Please join us in celebration of the essential components of our habitat.
